BYEBLOAT — TASKSStatus: planned

Track what's done.Skip the project plan.

Boards, lists, due dates, recurring schedules. One owner per task, one place to look. No Gantt charts, no story points, no agile sprint wizard — just the bits of a task tracker that actually help a small team finish things.

THE BOARD

One board. Four lists. Nothing else.

No swimlanes, no dependencies, no required custom fields. Just lists with tasks and a checkbox that does what you expect.

RECURRING

Schedules that re-spawn on their own.

Set a cadence — daily, weekly, every other Friday — and a fresh copy materializes when the previous one gets checked. Owner is preserved. Sub-checklists reset. History stays in archive.

  • Pauses automatically when assignee is on vacation
  • Skips weekends if you set a weekday-only schedule
  • Reminders fire once, 24 hours before due

HOW A TASK FLOWS

From idea to done in four steps.

1Create

Hit N or click + Add task. Title, list, owner. Done.

> Squash inbox flicker bug
2Assign

Pick exactly one owner. Two owners means no owner.

MATHRE
3Due

Set a date. Tasks ping their owner 24h before — once.

Due Friday
4Done

Check it. Strikes through, drops to the Done list, stays searchable.

WHAT YOU GET

Eight things, all useful.

Each one earns its keep. Things we actively decided not to build are listed below — there are more of them than there are features.

Boards + lists

One board per project, four lists per board. If you need ten lists, you needed two boards.

Due dates

Pick a day. Friday tasks roll forward, not into the weekend.

Assignees

One owner per task. Watchers can subscribe — they don't take responsibility.

Sub-checklists

Up to ten. If you need more, that's two tasks.

Recurring tasks

Daily, weekly, monthly, weekday-only. Pauses on vacation.

Archive (don't delete)

Done tasks roll into Archive after 30 days. Searchable, restorable, never gone.

Full keyboard navigation, like Linear. Mouse optional.

Markdown

Task descriptions are real Markdown. Code blocks, links, lists.

SCHEDULES

Schedules that respect humans.

Most task trackers were built for managers measuring throughput. Tasks is built for the humans doing the work.

Friday tasks don't auto-rollover to weekend

If a task slips past Friday, it goes to Monday. Saturdays are not assignable.

Recurring schedules pause on vacation

Mark yourself away — your recurring tasks pause and resume when you're back.

Due-date warnings fire once

24 hours before due. Not five times. Not at 4am. We're not going to nag you.

WHAT WE LEFT OUT

Things Tasks doesn't do.

Each one was tempting. Each one would have made the product heavier without making your team faster.

×No Gantt charts
×No story points
×No agile sprints
×No 14-status workflow editor
×No dependency graphs (use comments)
×No time-tracking timers
×No “AI prioritization”
×No required custom fields
×No swimlane wizard
×No burn-down charts
HOW TEAMS USE IT

Three scenarios. Same product.

Weekly cadence · 8 recurring
FAQ

Quick answers.

Can I import from Trello, Asana, or Linear?

Yes. CSV import for Trello and Asana, native importer for Linear. Owners and due dates carry over. Custom fields don't (we don't have them — that's the point).

Is there a mobile app?

PWA at launch — installs to your home screen and works offline. Native iOS / Android come after we ship the web product and learn what people actually need.

Tell me more about recurring tasks.

Daily, weekly, monthly, every-N-weeks, weekday-only. Each cycle preserves owner and sub-checklist structure but resets check states. Pauses automatically when an owner is on vacation.

What integrates with Tasks?

Tickets (promote bugs to tasks), Channels (post a task to a channel), Notes (link a note to a task). Webhooks for everything else. No Zapier required.

Deletion versus archive — which?

Tasks are never deleted. They move to Archive after 30 days done. Search ignores archived by default; flip a toggle to include them. You can permanently delete only by exporting and dropping the workspace.

When does Tasks ship?

Status: planned. Tickets and Live Chat ship first. Tasks is on the roadmap right after — sign up for early access and we'll email you the day it goes live.
